Grade 5/6 student leadership groups, or CLANS (Contributing and Leading at North School) are formed at the beginning of each year. They are based on the students’ passions and give the senior students the opportunity to have a say and contribute to school decision-making. CLANS can involve areas such as the school gardens and environment, promotion of healthy food, ICT support for other students, fund-raising, organising sporting and writing activities and publishing a school magazine.
The Student Representative Council is made up of students from Grades 3 – 6 and gives an opportunity to strengthen student voice and decision-making.
Through involvement in the SRC students develop the skills of listening to the ideas of others, accepting the need to compromise, working as a team, making plans following projects through to completion and representing their peers to achieve school improvement.
