Castlemaine North places great emphasis on the use of Digital Technologies as we believe this is a necessary tool to support and enhance learning across all curriculum areas. We ensure students are prepared with the necessary digital skills required in the 21st century, which complements our strong focus on literacy and numeracy.
Students learn to use technology to create documents and access media, to learn about cyberbullying and how to use the internet safely and also how to be creators of content. We have a strong focus from Prep to Grade 6 on coding and robotics where students learn how to design, create and evaluate innovative solutions to problems.
Grades 4 to 6 students create an ongoing digital portfolio using blogs. This is a place to record and publish their learning that can be accessed at school and at home.
Grades 5 and 6 have a 1:1 computer leasing agreement and Grade 4 students have a 1:2 netbook program. Junior grades have access to a classroom bank of iPads to support their learning.
Lessons incorporating Digital Technologies are integrated across all curriculum areas and are designed to enhance the teaching and learning, whilst assisting students to meet specific learning outcomes.
